Jernej Žumer (1982) je leta 2008 diplomiral na Oddelku za likovno umetnost Pedagoške fakultete Univerze v Mariboru pod mentorstvom prof. Anke Krašnа. Od leta 2014 deluje kot samostojni kulturni delavec na področju ilustracije, stripa in animacije. Živi in ustvarja v Slovenj Gradcu.
Njegovo delo obsega ilustracijo za tisk, splet, animacijo in digitalne medije. Skupaj z Urhom Mlakarjem sta ustanovila kolektiv “Slika z jezika”, ki združuje glasbo, freestyle rap in improvizirano ilustracijo v interaktivni predstavi.
Žumrove ilustracije so zasnovane kot miselni izzivi – preplet humorja, kritike in karikature gledalcu nastavlja zrcalo. Značilne so subtilne ali neposredne družbene refleksije, intelektualni pristop ter igrive besedne igre, ki so postale njegov likovni podpis. Njegova dela sprožajo širok spekter odzivov: od smeha do zmedenosti, zmeraj pa presenetijo z izvirnostjo in slogovno močjo.

Jernej Žumer (b. 1982) graduated in 2008 from the Department of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Education, University of Maribor, under the mentorship of Prof. Anka Krašna. Since 2014, he has worked as an independent cultural professional in the fields of illustration, comics, and animation. He currently lives and creates in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia.
His work spans diverse media—from printed publications and digital platforms to animation. Together with Urh Mlakar, he co-founded “Slika z jezika”, a collective that fuses music, freestyle rap, and live illustration into unique performances shaped through audience interaction.
Žumer’s artistic practice invites intellectual engagement. His illustrations often pose a mental challenge, blending humor, criticism, and caricature. Wordplay is a key element of his visual language, contributing to his distinct signature style. The humor in his work does not merely entertain—it often underscores uncomfortable truths.
By holding up a figurative mirror to the viewer, Žumer highlights the distortion inherent in cultural and social frameworks. His works provoke a spectrum of reactions: from laughter and surprise to reflection and critique, always marked by originality and a sharp conceptual edge.
