Špela Senica

Špela Senica, sem rojena v Mariboru 18. junija 1999. Kot otrok sem bila zelo radovedna. Takoj, ko sem v roki lahko držala svinčnik, ga do danes praktično nisem več spustila. Mojo zavzetost so opazile vzgojiteljice v vrtcu. Vpisale so me v likovno delavnico, kjer sem se učila likovnih veščin. Poleg rednega šolanja sem obiskovala glasbeno šolo in končala pet letnikov igranja na harmoniko in nauka o glasbi na Konservatoriju za glasbo in balet. To me je pomirilo in preusmerilo misli. To mi predstavlja izziv.

////////////

Špela Senica, I was born in Maribor on June 18, 1999. As a child, I was very curious. As soon as I could hold a pencil in my hand, I practically never put it down again. My enthusiasm was observed by kindergarten teachers. I was enrolled in an art workshop where I began to study fine arts. My work was exhibited at a group exhibition at the premises of the Kindergarten Ivan Glinšek. For my work, I received recognition from graphic designer Zvonka Rosandič. I was 6 years old. After that I went to school at Bratov Polančičev. In addition to regular schooling, I attended a music school and finished five years of playing on the accordion at the Conservatory for Music and Ballet. Later I learned to play drums at KUD CODA. Sport also interested me. I was engaged in free climbing and skating. I was a few years receiver of scholarship of Leon Štukelj Foundation and so I combined sports and culture. At the Secondary School for the Design of Maribor, I finished my high school graduation in graphic design. During my schooling, I learned graphic arts as an internship at Kreatorlab in Maribor and Milan. In Milan, I worked at Jellyfish. In Maribor, I won the international photo contest titled “The border” with a photo entitled “Only up here”. Later I was selected for designing the logo of the poster for Maribor november rock. Unfortunately, in the third and fourth year of high school I had to go to surgery first of my right leg and then on my left. I was absent from school every few months. When I was lying on my back, I was drawing. This calmed me down and shifted my thoughts. A lot of works were created and I presented them at the independent exhibition Primum unum in the Youth Center Velenje. I participated at the Maribor Design Festival together with my grandfather Drago Senica, where our works were connected in two different generations. I always found love in skating and thus formed a flyer and logo for the Tito skate session and then I made designs for skateboards for the Relax Crew Skateco. At the end of high school, I then tried working with new media, which led to an independent exhibition at Studio 12:22 in the GT22 in Maribor entitled “Au” (gold). I presented my works made with pencil and my biggest abstract work (up to now) with the motives of the golden beetles. After graduation, I passed the exams at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. Since I also passed the entrance exams at the arts university in the direction of graphic design and photography in Linz, I decided to study in Austria. I am also learning foreign language at the same time. Nevertheless, I like returning home to Maribor. Last, I had an independent exhibition titled “Doreja” under the guidance of the Youth Center Maribor in their online gallery Media Nox.
